Chinese Vice Premier Meets European Parliament Delegation

Chinese Vice Premier Qian Qichen met with a delegation from the European Parliament Group for Relations with China led by its Chairman Per Gahrton Monday.

Qian answered questions raised by the members of the delegation on regional cooperation and the role of the United Nations.

He said organizations in Asia, such as the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), are established on the basis of economic cooperation. China has attached great importance to relationships with neighboring countries, and would like to push forward trade and economic cooperation among Asian countries, he added.

On the UN reform, Qian said China supports the reform of the UN and its security council, and the Chinese government hopes that more developing countries will become members of the UN security council.
