Hitachi, a noted Japanese corporation, will invest heavily in the west China region, especially in environment, energy resources and communications sectors, Mori Masakaza, general manager of Hitachi (China) Co. Ltd, said Monday in Chongqing.

Mori Masakaza, who is attending the on-going symposium on the development of large enterprises in China and Japan, said that the light railway project of Chongqing Municipality, scheduled to be completed in 2004, is a major focus for his company.

Hitachi participated in the design of the project and it aims to win the final bidding of the project to provide more technologies and equipment.
