Olympic Gold Medal Diver Injured in Hong Kong Show

Xiong Ni, China's Olympic diving gold medallist, has cut short his performances after straining his neck in the diving exhibition show held Sunday in Hong Kong. He will miss the remaining two shows, organisers said Monday.

Xiong, who won the three-meter springboard and three-meter synchronized gold medals at the Sydney Olympics, was rushed to hospital where he was treated and discharged wearing a neckbrace.

The Chinese diving team, including Olympic gold medallist Fung Mingxia, is in Hong Kong for several exhibitions. Hundreds of fans attended the exhibition show, all tickets were reportedly sold out.

Xiong Ni is unlikely to be able to perform when the team moves to Macau.
