Int'l Folk Art Festival Held in Shanghai
An international folk art festival, which opened on October 28 in Shanghai, has attracted some 100,000 Chinese and foreign folk art fans.

The Shanghai Baoshan Folk Art Festival has been listed as part of the 2000 International Peaceful Art Year celebrations by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Attending the festival are art troupes from China, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, the Netherlands, Israel, Russia, the Republic of Korea, Spain and four other countries.

During the one-week event, Chinese and foreign artists will give dozens of performances, featuring songs and dances of their own nations.

The artists will also go to communities and schools to have gala-celebrations with local people.
