Jackie Chan Becomes Envoy of Beijing 2008 Bid

Famous international action star Jackie Chan signed up with the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bid Committee (BOBICO) to become a goodwill envoy of Beijing's bid for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Chan said that as a Chinese, he will do his best to bring the Olympic Games to Beijing, which will be a great opportunity for Beijing and China to enhance their image in the international community.

He made the remarks at a press conference held at the headquarters of the BOBICO at Xinqiao Hotel in downtown Beijing.

As Vice Mayor of Beijing Liu Jingmin invited Chan to say something to the local press, Chan said: "I am not good at talking. I'm good at action. "I have been doing action for the people all these years," he said.

Actually, he is to act a role in a promotional motion picture of Beijing's bid immediately after becoming an envoy of the city.

Vice Mayor Liu presented Chan with a diploma of the goodwill envoy, as well as a golden plate carrying the logo of Beijing's bid and sports suits of Chinese athletes competing at the Sydney Olympic Games.
