Top Chinese Legislator Meets Primakov

Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, met Sunday with Chairman Yevgeny Primakov of the Fatherland-All Russia Bloc of the Russian State Duma (Lower House).
Li said that Sino-Russian relations have been developing steadily, and there have been frequent high-level exchanges of visits between the two countries, and contacts in other areas have also increased.
All these show that a Sino-Russian strategic partnership of coordination has been developing smoothly, he added, expressing his appreciation for Primakov's efforts to advance bilateral relations.
Li also expressed his gratitude for the warm reception he received when he was in Russia not long ago, and offered congratulations for Primakov's 71st birthday.
Primakov, also former Russian prime minister, said that Li's successful visit to Russia played an important role in promoting bilateral relations and exchanges between parliaments of the two countries.
He added that the growth of Sino-Russian strategic partnership of coordination is important to both countries and world peace andstability at large.
He said that he will continue his efforts to promote Sino-Russian friendship.
