12 Pakistani Soldiers Killed in Kashmir: PTI

At least 12 Pakistani soldiers were killed on Saturday when Indian troops repulsed their raid at a forward post in Moushera sector of Jammu division of India-controlled Kashmir, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

The agency quoted a defense spokesman in the area as saying that a large group of heavily armed Pakistani army attempted to raid the Indian post in wee hours, but "our alert troops retaliated quickly foiling their designs."

The spokesman said that enemy troops retreated towards the Pakistani side after the retaliatory action that left 12 soldiers killed and several others injured.

PTI also said that two militants of pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen were killed in an encounter while militants hurled a grenade, injuring three soldiers of Indian border security forces and also triggered land-mine explosions in separate incidents in Kashmir Saturday.

A spokesman of the border security force said that its troops unearthed a big haul of arms and ammunition by smashing an underground militant hideout in north Kashmir.

India asserted that Pakistani troops also targeted several Indian forward posts in Poonch and Pallanwala sectors by firing mortars Friday night without causing any casualty or damage on the Indian side.

In New Delhi, an army spokesman described as "baseless reports" that its troops had fired a large number of shells across the line of control in Kashmir last week.
