3 Palestinians Killed, Six Israelis Injured in Renewed ClashesOne Palestinian was killed Friday afternoon in the West Bank city of Ramallah in the gun battle with Israeli forces, bringing to three the number of Palestinians killed Friday in the Palestinian territories.The Live fire exchange between Israeli troops and Palestinian gunmen erupted at the Ayosh junction near Ramallah, in which two Israeli border policemen and one soldier were injured, Israeli security sources confirmed. The other two Palestinians, including a 15-year-old, were shot dead by Israeli troops in the West Bank cities of Qalqilya and Tulkarem respectively, hospital sources said. Palestinian sources had earlier said at least 25 Palestinians were wounded, four critically, in Friday's clashes. Meanwhile, three Israeli soldiers and policemen were injured by rocks near the West Bank towns of Jenin and Hebron. Clashes also broke out the West Bank cities of Bethlehem and Jericho and Gaza Strip on the Palestinians called "Day of Rage." The clashes flared after two days of relative calm in the wave of violence, which have killed over 130 people, mostly Palestinians, wounded some 4,000 others. But the Friday noon prayers in the Old City of Jerusalem passed quietly after Israel Police set a cordon line to prevent any Muslims aged 35 and below from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. In a related development, Israel Radio reported that the central synagogue in the Jewish settlement of Efrat, which is near the West Bank city of Bethlehem, was vandalized overnight. Police spokesman said its walls were covered with swastikas and anti-semitic phrases, such as "The honor belongs to (Palestinian security chief) Jibril Rajoub" and "Hitler destroys germs." |
