China's entry into the WTO is nearing up. Shanghai is the first in China to set up a consultation center as such to engage actively in the research of the WTO matters, training, information consultancy and law services including the anti-dumping. It will play a significant role in promoting exchanges between China and foreign countries, and providing suggestions and tactics on policies for enterprises and governments to cope with problems they may encounter when joining the WTO.
According to Chen Liangyu, the center will, on the principle of discrimination of neither those from the outside nor those at home, and with the needs of the governments, enterprises and society, will play the role of a bridge in promoting exchanges between China and the outside world in the field of the WTO affairs, a forceful weapon for coping with the challenges of the WTO and a competent assistant and strong supporter for nationwide consultancy on the WTO matters.
Located at Pudong area, the center is an institution fully funded by the government of Shanghai Municipality, and the handling of affairs is under the guidance of Ministry of Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation.
