Official: China to Fulfill WTO Commitment

China is sincere and capable in fulfilling the commitment it has made to enter the World Trade Organization (WTO), a senior Chinese trade official has said.

Long Yongtu, vice minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, said that the agreement inked between China and the US as well as that between China and the E.U. are well recognized as "win-win" deals.

"Since the agreements are beneficial to China, why shouldn't China implement them? China will completely fulfill the commitments it has made, whether it is bilateral or multilateral,"said Long, who is also the country's chief trade negotiator, at a symposium at the Shanghai Industrial Fair.

Long said there is no point in doubting China's confidence in entering the WTO as it took China 14 years to enter the last stage of negotiations to access the WTO.

China has started to revise its foreign trade related laws, and all stipulations that ran against WTO rules will be canceled or revised, a move that best displays China's confidence and

capability in entering the WTO, he said.
