West Lake Expo to Reach Four Billion RMB in Trade Volume

The ongoing West Lake Exposition will hopefully hit trade volume of 4 billion RMB, said a senior official.

Vice Mayor of Hangzhou Ye Defan said the exposition will help to attract 3 billion RMB of domestic capital and 150 million RMB of foreign capital.

The exposition, unveiled on October 20 in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province, consists of 23 trade fairs, exhibitions and conferences.

The exposition, jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Construction, National Tourism Administration, the State Administration of Internal Trade, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Zhejiang Provincial Government, aims to boost local economic development and cultural advancement.

The first West Lake exposition was held in 1927. Gathering 20 million visitors at home and abroad and nearly 150,000 valuable exhibits, it was listed as one of the four major international exhibitions, along with those in Chicago, Paris and Philadelphia.
