Top Legislator Li Meets International Bankers
Li thanked them for their suggestions on the development of the bank and China's financial system. Li also briefed the individuals on China's economic development plan. He told them that China's economy is expected to grow at a fast rate in the coming five to ten years. China will take a series of measures to ensure the expected growth. Maurice R. Greenberg, chairman of the American International Group Inc., who is here with other members of the advisory body, said China's economic growth will be important to the world, and its accession to the World Trade Organization will benefit both China and the world. Li said the NPC Standing Committee is currently holding a session to discuss the revision of several laws regarding foreign economic cooperation in preparation for the country's WTO accession. The advisory committee held its annual meeting from Wednesday to Thursday, the second of its kind.
