Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met Thursday with senior bankers who are here attending the second plenary session of the international advisory committee of the China Development Bank.

Li thanked them for their suggestions on the development of the bank and China's financial system. Li also briefed the individuals on China's economic development plan.

He told them that China's economy is expected to grow at a fast rate in the coming five to ten years. China will take a series of measures to ensure the expected growth.

Maurice R. Greenberg, chairman of the American International Group Inc., who is here with other members of the advisory body, said China's economic growth will be important to the world, and its accession to the World Trade Organization will benefit both China and the world.
