Intel Helps Establish e-Business Projects at Tsinghua University

Tsinghua University Intel President and CEO Dr. Craig Barrett announced a US$200,000 commitment to enhance and develop course work and labs in e-Business programs at Tsinghua University.

A one-time award program, recipients of the grant program include Carnegie Mellon University, Cornell University, Harvard University, the University of Michigan and Tsinghua University-the only university outside the United States to be a recipient of Intel. This is part of a US$1 million Intel e-Business Initiative.

"The goal of the grant is to create university-level programs that will increase the breadth of knowledge in e-Business and e-Commerce through hands-on research projects that couple the latest technological tools with new business practices," Barrett said.

"Intel has long been the preeminent supplier of the building blocks for computing and the Internet economy and now recognizes the need to help develop professionals that are conversant in the fundamentals of conducting e-Business."

Intel will help develop innovative programs that emphasize e-Commerce by establishing labs and creating graduate and undergraduate curricula that support the introduction of courses and projects related to e-Business and e-Commerce. The grant will provide computer workstations, servers, networking equipment and software required to carry out successful implementation of selected projects, curriculum materials and services.
