Companies Have High Expectations for Mobile FutureDomestic and overseas telecom companies showed high expectations for China's mobile industry at a telecom show in Beijing Tuesday.The event showcased a range of network solutions and operation modes for the future mobile phone industry, which include broad-band GPRS (general packet radio system) network, mobile banking solutions, TD-SCDMA applications and so on. Juergen Lagleder, vice-president of Siemens China, said that "the TD-SCDMA application will reduce the cost of network immigration by a large margin and will benefit local producers. He stressed the commitment of Siemens to cooperate with Chinese partners in investing one billion U.S. dollars in the research and development activities of the mobile telecom sector in China. Datong Telecom Group said that it planned to produce 10 original station modes based on the new standard and conduct network operation trials in the second half of next year. The steady growth of China's mobile phone subscribers has impelled telecom companies to seek every way to promote their handsets. At yesterday's show, Ericsson introduced the world's first GPRS handset, the R380, which support high-speed, data-heavy business. Siemens demonstrated its newly-released mobile phones, including the WAP (Wireless application protocal)-enabled 3518i and 3568i. |
