Eight MP Manufacturers Promise "Three Guarantees"
Motivated by the China Consumers' Association, eight mobile phone (MP) manufacturers, Konka, Haier, TCL, Panda, Bird, Daxian, Amoisonic and Sony, made a public promise to the consumers to undertake "three guarantees" (refund, change and repair within a specified period of time) for its products.
The manufacturers promised that if quality problems occur under the normal usage situation, consumers can ask the original dealer to refund the product by showing their valid invoice within seven days from the purchasing date. Products with same problems can be changed within one month and repaired within one year free of charge. Chargers and charging batteries can be repaired or changed within one year and six months respectively. The eight manufacturers also promised that the consumers could ask the original dealers to change or refund the mobile telephones which still fail to function normally after being repaired twice. Stand-by phones should be provided if the repair time exceeds 15 days.
Sources say that to protect the lawful rights and interests of the consumers as well as to promote the consumption of handsets, the China Consumers' Association will step up its work to urge more MP producers to voluntarily undertake the "three guarantees", meanwhile, it will organize investigation into the situation regarding how the above eight manufacturers honor their promises.
