China Telecom to Develop an Eight Times Speed by Yearend

As things stand in China at present: A fairly stable telecom market is being developed. Meanwhile, Internet has become a battlefield to seek new market shares by telecom operators. Sources from China Telecom that an intensive study has been made by heads from various departments to look into the strategy and prospects for China's future Internet construction.

As reported, they will increase Internet speed nationwide, and manage to up the speed of CHINANET eight times by yearend, to meet the expectations of 80 million users by 2005, including 20% broadband users.

In recent years, China Telecom has concentrated its effort on building up a massive public network of high capacity, high speed, high quality and high security as a major sector in Chinese economy to be developed.
