Shanghai to Hold World Undergraduates Pingpong Match

The 13th World Undergraduates Pingpong Championships will be staged tomorrow in the gym of Shanghai East China University of Science and Engineering. Nearly one hundred competitors will take part in the five days' contest.

Sponsored by World Undergraduate Sports Union, organized by China Undergraduates Sports Association and China Undergraduates Pingpong Union, seven categories of contests will be held including men's group, singles, doubles, women's group, singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.

About 150 officers, coaches and players from thirteen countries including Belgium, Brazil, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, ROK, Nepal, Poland, Switzerland, and China's Macao, Taipei and mainland, will take part in the championships.

A strong delegation has been organized by China with its men's team formed of Wang Liqin, Liu Guozheng, Zhang Yong, Zhang Yingjie and Xi Minjie, and Sun Jin and Cheng Hongxia in women's team. Jiang Penglong, winner in the fifth place of men's singles in Yangzhou World Cup, ranking world sixth, will represent China Taipei in matches to be held in Shanghai.
