Experts Call for Improvement of Hospital Design

Medical and architectural experts have called for better architectural design of new hospitals, which are equipped with advanced facilities and effectively functional.

Participants at the ongoing third international symposium on architectural design and facilities of hospitals said that in the future all large hospitals in China must be planned with systematic integration, linking different buildings and public facilities, the Wenhui Daily reported.

According to the Shanghai-based newspaper, the state has usually invested limited money into hospital buildings, which are randomly designed.

In addition, infrastructure construction of hospitals in the country has greatly lagged behind medical equipment renewal in recent years. Many hospitals have made alterations to suit the addition of up-to-date medical machines, the newspaper said.

The symposium, which is scheduled to close today in Shanghai, attracted medical experts, architects and businesses from Germany, Japan, the United States and China.
