It's learned from the 2nd Shanghai International Industry Fair & 2000 Hi-tech Achievement Exhibition that Shanghai GM shows for the first time a new member of the Buick Family - "Sail" sedan, which is scheduled to roll off the line within this year.

This marks the fact that Shanghai GM has become the second large Sino-foreign joint auto venture involving manufacture of economical sedan cars.

It's reported that this light 1.6-liter family vehicle is developed on the basis of the platform of the repeated prize-winner Opel in light of the demand and condition of Chinese families.

It introduces Dual airbags��Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) and the design of absorbing the force of collision as standard configuration for the first time. Its luring price will be fixed at about 100,000 yuan.

The Buick Sail inherits the same excellent features as those of all other Buick sedans, such as high technology, advanced equipment, comfort, safety, good performance and reasonable price.

This type of economical family sedan is expected to enter the market in the first half of next year.
