Vice-Premier Meets Delegates to China-Africa Cultural Symposium
Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing met with foreign participants in the ongoing Symposium on China-Africa Cultural Exchanges in the New Century Tuesday afternoon.
Li extended a warm welcome to Mahamat Doutoum, assistant secretary-general of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), and other delegates, and discussed with them about the cultural exchanges between China and African states.
The symposium, sponsored by China's Ministry of Culture, opened this morning in the Beijing International Convention Center.
High-ranking cultural officials from 20 African countries and the OAU and Chinese cultural officials and experts participated in the two-day symposium, a follow-up activity of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum -- Ministerial Meeting Beijing 2000 which ended on October 12.
