Chief of General Staff Holds Talks with Spanish Counterpart

Fu Quanyou, chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, held talks Tuesday with Santiago Valderas, chief of Defence Staff of Spain.

Fu said that Chinese armed forces valued its relations with its Spanish counterpart, and the development of relations between two states and armies conforms to the fundamental interest of the two peoples, and benefits world peace and stability as well.

He said Valderas's visit is meaningful and will further promote Sino-Spanish military ties.

Fu briefed the guests on China's domestic situation and its army building.

Fu also stressed Chinese government's stance on the Taiwan issue, and thanked the Spanish government for its adherence to the One-China stance.

Valdras, who visited China for the first time, promised he will continue to promote the friendship and cooperation between Spain and China in all fields, including the military ties.
