Chinese Paralympic Swimmer Disqualified
Chinese Paralympic swimmer Zhang Yuan was disqualified from the women's 100 meters freestyle S11 heats after no tapper was provided for her swim, the organizers announced Tuesday.
Tappers are sighted partners positioned at each end of the swimming pool that tap vision impaired swimmers to inform them of a need to execute a turn or make a final touch.
Tappers are usually a member of the team's coaching staff. And a failure to provide tappers is however generally taken as a technical error.
