Chinese State Council Meets EC Trade Commissioner

Chinese State Councilor Wu Yi met Monday with Pascal Lamy, trade commissioner of the European Commission.

Wu expressed satisfaction with the growth of China-EU relations and bilateral economic and trade cooperation in recent years, and said the agreement concerning China's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) signed by China and the EU provided new opportunities and good conditions for bilateral economic and trade cooperation in the years ahead.

She said she hopes the 17th China-EU mixed commission meeting, to be co-chaired by Lamy and Chinese Foreign Trade Minister Shi Guangsheng tomorrow, will be conducive to promoting China-EU economic and trade relations.

Lamy said the EU places great importance on developing economic and trade cooperation with China, and will work to resolve the remaining issues left in China-EU agreement on China's WTO entry.
