China Has 60 Million Travelers During National Day Holiday

China had 59.82 million domestic travelers during its National Day Holiday from October 1 to October 7.

According to statistics released October 23 by the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) and the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), tourism earnings reached 23 billion yuan (about 2.77 billion U.S. dollars) in total.

A total of 17 million people went on one-day journeys, and 42.82 million people traveled for two days or more.

Statistics show that 46.7 percent of hotel beds were occupied during the week-long holiday, and the figure reached 65.5 percent in 21 key tourist cities including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Each traveler spent 384 yuan (about 46.27 U.S. dollars) on average. The civil aviation and railway departments earned 1.21 billion yuan (about 145.78 million U.S. dollars) and 710 million yuan (about 85.54 million U.S. dollars), respectively.

According to statistics, 92 percent of travelers were satisfied with the accommodation at scenic spots.
