China Opens up Its Value-Added Telecom Market

China has not given any restrictions to operators of its value-added telecom business on investment proportion and ownership, which symbolizes China has set to open up its telecom market to all qualified operators, source from the Ministry of Information Industry said.

It is learnt the value-added telecom business means the telecom and information service provided through utilization of public network infrastructure facility.

Reportedly the business scope of value-added business covering more than two provinces, autonomous regions or municipalities must be approved by the Ministry of Information Industry to get a multi-region license. Meanwhile, the one covering a province, autonomous region or municipality should get nod from the local telecom management authorities to acquire a license.

According to the stipulation of the new rules on telecommunication, telecom management authorities must finish the examination within 60 days upon receipt of the applications to give approval or disapproval. (Panorama)
