Jiang Meets Chirac and Prodi
Chinese President
Jiang Zemin
is at a meeting with visiting French President Jacques Rene Chirac and President of the European Commission Romano Prodi Monday afternoon at the Great Hall of the People.
Chirac arrived in China Saturday afternoon as guest of Jiang after attending the third Asia-Europe Meeting held in Seoul, capital of the Republic of Korea.
The French president first went to Yangzhou, a scenic city in east China's
Jiangsu
Province and also the hometown of Jiang. The two presidents first met each other there.
This is Chirac's second visit to China in the capacity of French President and the reciprocal visit to Jiang's visit to
France
last year.
Prodi arrived here Saturday evening.
