China to Enlist ICS Reserves for the First Time

China will hold the first nationwide public examination of International Civil Servant (ICS) reserves in early November. The enlisting work has been concluded recently. Through the selection by exams, 170 persons will finally be listed in China International Civil Servant base.

International staff members, also named as International Civil Servants, refer to various types of working staff employed by the United Nations and other international organizations. They work in international organizations under the leadership of the administrators of these agencies, serve all the member states of the UN and play a special role in maintaining world peace and promoting common development. Since China restored its legal seat in the UN in 1971, it has successively sent international staff members to the UN and other special organs. By the end of last year, there had been over 530 Chinese international personnel holding posts in various world organizations.

To recommend more outstanding personnel to participate in international competition, China International Civil Service Center will irregularly organize public examinations of international civil servant reserves in compliance with the requirements for the competitive examinations of UN member states and the qualifications for holding a post in international organizations. The exam this time is organized by China International Civil Service Center and the Personnel Examination Center of the Ministry of Personnel. People who want to take the exam can sign up in the website of the Ministry of Personnel (www.mop.gov.cn). The majors on admission include administration, economy, electronic information processing, finance, library work, legal affair, political affair, statistics and language service£¨written translation and interpretation. The examinations include written exam and interviews. The written exam will be held simultaneously in Beijing and Shanghai on November 5.
