Chinese Dominate Dutch Open Badminton

Chen Hong of China edged Hashim M. Roslin of Maylasia in a tough hard-fought match to win the men's singles title Sunday in the Dutch Open badminton tournament held in Den Bosch, Netherlands.

Three of the five finals at the tournament went to the full three sets as the competition wrapped up at the Maasport sports center in this central Dutch city.

Chen Hong overwhelmed his rival 15-11, 15-17, 15-7.

In the ladies' singles, Zhou Mi outclassed her compatriot Gong Ruina to win 11-7, 9-11, 11-8.

In mixed doubles, defending titleholders Chen Qiqiu and Chen Lin of China beat Simon Archer of Britain and Erica van den Heuvel of the Netherlands 8-15, 15-12, 15-10.

The men's doubles champions went to indonesians Halim Maryanto and Sigit Budiarto who defeated Jim Laugesen and Michael Soegaard of Denmark 15-11, 15-4.

In women's doubles, Helene Kirkegard and Rikke Olsen from Denmark eliminated Chinese Chen Lin and Jiang Xuelian 15-6, 15-7.
