Tibet to Build Artificial Climate SystemChina is to build an artificial climate system in the Tibet Autonomous Region to help reduce natural disasters.��The program is expected to be completed in 15 years and will cost 180 million yuan (22 million U.S. dollars), according to local government sources.�� It will feature a network of monitoring systems, information exchange platforms and hundreds of meteorological rocket launchspots, the sources said.�� The program will increase rainfall by 10 to 30 percent and reduce losses caused by hailstones by 85 percent.�� Known as "the roof of the world," Tibet has very complicated meteorological conditions with droughts, hailstones, snowstorms and frosts often bringing great damage to agriculture.�� Tibet has already established 190 meteorological rocket launch spots in 43 counties.��
