A puppet museum has opened in Quanzhou city in east China's
Fujian
province, where local puppet performances date back to over 800 years.
Puppet art in China originated in the Han Dynasty (206 BC. - 220 AD.).
Quanzhou is home to various traditional dramas. As part of Quanzhou's local art forms, the puppet here features meticulous handicraft and unique design, and is widely known across the world.
The museum traces the development of puppet shows in China and displays several valuable puppet models made by master sculptors.
