Thai Queen Visits Xi'an

Queen Sirikit of the Kingdom of Thailand arrived Saturday in Xi'an to continue her China visit. Li Jianguo, secretary of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Congress, met with her.

Li briefed the queen and other Thai guests accompanying her on social and economic development in Shaanxi province. He said that Shaanxi is the cradle of the Chinese nation, and 13 dynasties have established their capitals here, leaving masses of cultural relics.

Now Shaanxi takes an important position in implementing the strategy of developing the west regions of the country because of the province's advantage in science and education.

Sirikit said that China is a great country with splendid culture. She voiced her hope to learn more about the Chinese culture and history so as to promote friendship between Thailand and China.
