Zambian President Confident of More Chinese Investment

Zambian President Frederick Chiluba said in London Friday that he is confident that more Chinese investors will come to Zambia soon because the two countries enjoy good working relations.

Zambia and China would continue working to bring the Chinese private investment to his country, said Chiluba who was on his way home from a 11-day visit to China via London.

Zambia News Agency quoted him as saying that his trip to China is significant because he had the opportunity to hold talks with various private sector entrepreneurs who have been targeted to invest in Zambia.

The President described as plenty the investment opportunities in Zambia but added that the choice of which sector to invest in would be decided by the investors themselves.

Chiluba cited agriculture as one sector of the economy which has been closed to investment for many years and said that he is confident that it would attract most of the investment.

He said Zambia is determined to ensure that relations between the two countries will be further strengthened, adding that he admired the Chinese people's sense of discipline, industry and

respect for the leadership.

During his stay in Beijing, Chiluba also participated in the opening ceremony of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum.
