China Hails Contribution by Foreign Experts In China's English EducationJiang Zhenghua, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC), expressed his thanks to foreign English language experts and teachers who have made significant contributions to China's education of the English language.In a meeting with representatives from the English Language Institute in China in Beijing Friday, Jiang spoke highly of the cooperation between the U.S.-based Institute and China's State Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs during the past 20 years. He said that the cooperation, which has brought more than 4,000 English teachers to China, has been very significant in China's education and training of talents. He told the guests that with the deepening of China's reforms and opening up drive and the implementation of the western development strategy, cooperation will surely be more fruitful. Bob Foster, chairman of the Institute, said that his organization is willing to continue cooperating with the Chinese Bureau and helping China's English language education. The Institute, with its headquarters in California, is an non-governmental and non-profit educational organization. Its members come from over three hundred universities and colleges in North America.
