Beijing Mayor Meets with P&G Chairman

Beijing mayor Liu Qi said Friday in Beijing that the Chinese capital welcomes Procter & Gamble Ltd. (P&G) to expand investment.

He made the remarks when he met with P&G's chairman John Peper, who expressed his willingness to increase investment in the Chinese market.

Liu said that Beijing welcomes multinationals to participate in Beijing's economic construction as the city is expanding reforms and opening up.

He said that Beijing is improving its investment environment and strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights. The city is also becoming more of a water-saving and environment-friendly city.

Companies possessing advanced technologies, such as P&G, can play an active role in providing better services for Beijing citizens, Liu said.

Peper said that P&G will offer environment-friendly washing technologies to Chinese companies.
