China to Hold Int'l Telecommunication ExpositionThe China International Exposition of Telecommunication Equipment and Technology (PT/Expo Comm China) will be held in Beijing from October 24 to 28.According to the organizer, nearly 600 enterprises from 20 countries and regions will attend the expo, which is one of the largest and most influential exhibitions in Asia. Covering a floor space of 55,000 square meters, the expo will feature almost every aspect of telecommunications, including China's TD-SCDMA technology, which will be used as one of the international standards in the third generation of mobile telecommunications. In recent years, China's IT industry has witnessed rapid development, with its number of fixed and mobile phones exceeding 200 million, ranking second in the world. Experts predict that China's sales of IT products this year will reach 490 billion yuan (about 60 billion U.S. doallars), and its exports 45 billion US dollars. The expo is sponsored by The Ministry of Information Industry and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
