Fixed Asset Investment Keeps Double-Digit Growth

China's investment in fixed assets grew by 12.9 percent over the first nine months of the year compared with the same period of last year, official statistics showed.

According to figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Wednesday, the growth rate was 0.2 percentage points higher in the first nine months than in the first eight months of the year.

Investment in fixed assets totaled 1,347 billion yuan from January to September, excluding that by companies of collective and private ownership.

The NBS said that investment in infrastructure has picked up during the period, registering a year-on-year growth of 8.1 percent, 0.4 percentage points higher than that for the first eight months of the year.

According to the NBS, investment in technological renovation continued to decline slowly in September, with the year-on-year growth rate slipping 0.6 percentage points to 8.1 percent.

NBS said that strong momentum of investment growth in the real estate sector helped push up the overall investment growth.
