Oil Wharf Upgrading Begins in Zhanjiang PortTechnological upgrading of a 300,000-ton oil terminal started today in Zhanjiang Port, a well-known natural deep-water port in south China.Meanwhile, the first phase of a navigation course dredging project was completed for vessels of 100,000 deadweight tons in the port, which has an annual handling capacity of 18 million tons. When the two projects are finally completed, the port will become China's largest oil transit base along the coast, said a port official. The modernization of the port will give a boost to economic growth in western China as it is the nearest deep-water port for provinces and regions in southwest China. |
