All Eyes Upon Arab Summit: UAE Newspaper

A major United Arab Emirates (UAE) Arabic daily Thursday said that all eyes were now on the Arab summit, scheduled for Cairo on October 21-22, which must stand up to the challenge in the light of the latest development in the occupied territories.

The Dubai-based "Al Bayan" said the summit need to come out with decisive communique, stronger than that of the Sharm el Sheikh summit, adding that the final statement of the Cairo summit must include strong measures to protect Palestinians from the Israeli atrocities.

The paper said the Cairo summit is going to be a real test for Arab leaders to see if they are capable of leading their nations "out of the dark tunnel where Arabs have found themselves in since years ago."

Therefore the summit must come out with a strong and decisive communique, not the usual routine and rhetoric resolutions of just condemnations but that which can redeem to the Palestinians their full rights and which supports the Palestinians in their Intifada (popular uprising) against the Israeli occupation, the paper said.

The paper said Arab leaders must take decisive action, which will force Israel to abide by international resolutions, respect the agreements it signed with Palestinians and prevent the Jewish entity from taking any aggressive action against the Palestinians.
