Second Int'l Hi-tech Fair Ends in Shenzhen

The 2nd China International Hi- Tech Fair, which ran for one week, came to an end Tuesday in Shenzhen in south China's Guangdong Province.

During the fair, 1,046 agreements on trading of hi-tech goods and services were reached, worth US$8.54 billion, an increase of 31.4 percent over the first hi-tech fair held in Shenzhen, country's first special economic zone.

The fair concluded 175 foreign-invested projects with total investment of US$2.6 billion, rising 42 percent over the previous fair held last October.

During the fair, the total import and export value rose 41.6 percent to reach US$2.6 billion, including import value of US$1.17 billion and export value of US$1.43 billion.

The import and export value of high-tech products reached US$2.27 billion.

Over 1,300 domestic and overseas companies attended the event, 38 percent more than the last fair.

Participants took part in a series of academic symposiums, including a hi-tech forum, at which 35 Chinese and foreign scholars and experts delivered at lectures.

According to Hu Chusheng, a spokesman of the fair, a hi-tech industry and venture investment federation and a hi-tech achievement exchange, the first of its kind in the country, were set up during the fair.
