Lucent Technologies Increases Investment in China

The U.S.-based Lucent Technologies recently invested 22 million U.S. dollars to build a new center in the port city of Qingdao in east China's Shandong Province.

With an area of 37 acres, the center is Lucent's largest program-controled switchboard production base overseas. After expansion, its production capacity will be doubled and its product portfolio will add new items, including networking products and wireless systems.

According to the company source, the newly signed network expansion project, worth 15 million U.S. dollars, between Lucent and Beijing Telecom Administration has already started installation and testing. The first phase project has already been put into use," the source said.
