Renewed Wildlife Protection List Promulgated in Sichuan

There were 29 rare animals recently added to the protection list in Sichuan Province, the home of the giant pandas and Chinese sturgeon.

The protection list, a revised version on the basis of the list established in 1990, was recently approved by the Sichuan Provincial Government at its 46th standing committee meeting.

The newly added animals include: plateau loach, Dadu white soft-shelled turtle, leopard cat, short goat and adjutant bird.

Situated in southwest China, Sichuan Province has 147 State-listed rare animals. It carries out widespread publicity on wildlife protection every April, the reproduction period for birds and fish.
