Power Distribution Meeting Starts in Shanghai

Approximately 600 experts and scholars from around the world began their four-day discussion Tuesday in Shanghai on how to improve power supply in urban China in the coming century.

The meeting, the First International Conference on China's Power Distribution, was sponsored by Shanghai Power Company in cooperation with two other Chinese organizations.

Lu Yanchang, vice-president of the State Power Company, chairman of the meeting, briefed the participants on China's policy to integrate and upgrade the country's power grid so as to meet the increasing demand for electric power in the coming century.

Experts and scholars from 22 countries and regions attended the four-day conference. An exhibition is also being held, showcasing products from 52 power supply equipment manufacturers.
