China's First Environmental Prize Launched

China's first environmental prize was recently launched in Beijing. Nearly 50 people have volunteered or been nominated for the prize.

At the same time, a fierce debate is going on as to what judging standards should be applied so that the results are fair.

The sponsor of the prize, the China Environmental Protection Foundation, told the Beijing Youth Daily about their dilemma.

They say very few environmental undertakings are successful in China, so it's impossible to evaluate a project or individual by concrete achievements alone.

But dedication or concrete achievements, which counts more? That' s the problem.

The foundation is doing in-depth research on the deeds of all nominees.
