China Exhibits New Network Security Products

New network security products developed by Chinese high-tech companies have fascinated businessmen and computer fans at the 2nd China International High-Tech Fair held in Shenzhen City in south China with advanced and unique intelligence defense functions.

Ke Zonggui, deputy general manager of Tianhaiwei Digital Co. Ltd. of Guangdong Province, demonstrated the functions of his company's latest network security intelligence product -- Landun (Blue Shield) Firewall and answered questions regarding network security raised by visitors.

As hackers attack websites more often, network security has aroused the attention of people working in science and technology throughout the world, and the development of net security commodities has naturally become the focus of people's attention, said Ke.

Landun Firewall has been verified by professional network testing organizations of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security to be the first Chinese-developed network security product with defensive functions.

"Hacker Killer" developed by Far East Science and Technology Co.Ltd. has also been a hit at the high-tech fair, which closes today. It is capable of dealing with 800 attack methods used by hackers and has become one of the most widely used network security products in China.

Last year, the developer of the hacker killer set up a Far East Network Security Academy in Beijing in cooperation with the major state information security research office of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and has developed a series of network security products labeled as "Far East Net Security."

Lin Xuhui, president of the Far East Science and Technology Co. Ltd. said that his company is hoping to become China's leading high-tech brand name in the development of network security products.

Dr. Xu Rongsheng, an anti-hacker expert who used to be a Chinese representative on the network working group of UNESCO, said that along with the rapid progress in computer technology and popularization of Internet, many hackers have changed from just seeking stimulation and show-off mischief to engaging in economic or political activities, or committing crimes by using network technology.

Hacker attacks have also changed from individual acts to organized groups attacks, Xu said.

Internet service has been expanding rapidly in China, but the country lacks network security experts, said Xu, urging scientific research organizations and high-tech enterprises in China to join in developing China's own anti-hacker technologies and products.

Experts attending the high-tech forum also emphasized that it is necessary to work out relevant laws, set up effective management organizations and develop new network security technology and to step up education about network morals to create a clean environment in the virtual web world.

The 2nd international High-Tech Fair was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information Technology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
