China to Export 100 Billion US Dollars of Machinery-Electronic Products

China will export over 100 billion US dollars worth of machinery and electronic products this year, said Li Huifen, chairwoman of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, in the capital city of south China's Guangdong Province.

Li made the remarks at the on-going Guangzhou Export Commodities Fair, and she noted that as value-added and non-pollutant products, machinery and electronic products have played a more important role in trade in recent years.

Statistics showed that the total import and export volume of machinery and electronic products in China during the January-September period reached 149.93 US dollars, accounting for 43.4 percent of the total trade volume in China.

Li said that she is confident that the export volume of machinery and electronic products will reach 80 billion U.S.dollars, a target set by the central government during the 1996-2000 period. The export volume this year is scheduled to surpass 100 billion US dollars.

China's machinery and electronic products have occupied 1,720 booths at the trade fair, with trade volume at the fair expecting to surpass five billion US dollars for the products.
