Tibetan Relics Well Preserved
The central government and the Tibet Autonomous Regional government have invested 300 million yuan in recent years to protect historical sites and cultural relics in the southwest China region.
Maintenance of a group of ancient buildings such as the Potala Palace, Samding Monastery and Norbuglinkha, the Jewel Park, is going smoothly.
Tibet now has 1,800 historical and relics sites, dating back to the Old Stone and New Stone ages and other historical periods, according to regional bureau for cultural heritage.
Sources with the bureau said that these relics tell of the history of the development of Tibet, and prove that Tibet is an inseparable part of China.
Tibet has a group of historical cities including Lhasa, Xigaze and Gyangze, 18 historical sites under state protection and 64 under regional government protection. The Potala Palace was included in the list of the World Cultural Heritage in 1994.
