Aircraft Purchase Contract Signed Between US, Chinese Airlines

An aircraft purchase deal worth 290 million US dollars was struck here Monday between China's Hainan Airlines Co. Ltd and Boeing company.

Hainan Airlines will buy five Boeing 737-800 airplanes, according to the contract, which was signed by Liu Jianfeng, chairman of China's General Administration of Civil Aviation, and Fred Howard, president of Boeing China Inc.. The signing ceremony was held in Meridian International Center.

Hainan Airlines Co. Ltd, which was founded only seven years ago, has grown into one of the most profitable air companies in China.
