Strong Economic Growth in South China Province

Guangdong Province in south China witnessed sustained, rapid and healthy economic growth during the first nine months of this year, said a top provincial official in Beijing Sunday.

Lu Ruihua, governor of Guangdong, said at the ongoing 88th Guangzhou Export Commodities Trade Fair that the province realized a gross domestic product (GDP) of 655.9 billion yuan in the nine months, an increase of 10.6 percent over the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the province recorded a total retail sales of 293.3 billion yuan and a total export value of 68 billion U.S. dollars, up 12 percent and 24.8 percent from a year earlier, respectively, he said.
