HK Newspaper Report on Premier's Remarks on Gao Xingjian's Winning Nobel Prize Untrue

Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao Sunday refuted a Hong Kong newspaper report that Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji responded to questions relating to Chinese-French writer Gao Xingjian winning Nobel Prize for Literature during his Japanese tour, denouncing it as totally untrue.

Gao was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature on Thursday.

The spokesman affirmed that Premier Zhu has never answered questions concerning this issue during his current visit in Japan.
