Liquor Festival, Commodity Trade Fair Staged In Southwest China

The Third China Sichuan Famous Liquor Festival and the Second Chengdu Commodity Trade Fair opened October 14 in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province.

Jointly sponsored by the State Administration of Internal Trade under the State Economy and Trade Commission, Sichuan Provincial Government and Chengdu Municipal Government, the festival and the fair is seeing more participation and rising trade volume, an official of the organization committee of the fair said.

Offering 2,000 display sections, the 20,000 square-meter exhibition hall is divided into two parts: the famous liquor section and commodity trade section.

In the Liquor section, six famous brands produced in Sichuan are on display, showing the province's liquor culture. In the latter, a wide variety of commodities from Chengdu and Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin province, are exhibited, including garments, food, crafts and automobiles.

Liquors produced in Sichuan have long been noted for its quality. Last year, the six famous brands' production and revenue accounted for 67 and 62 percent of the nation's total respectively.

The festival and the fair will end on October 17.
